The Tennessee Department of Health has released updated guidance on releasing cases and contacts from isolation and quarantine regarding COVID-19. Please click the link to review the full guidance. The list below is a summary of the changes: NON-HOUSEHOLD CONTACTS Non-household contacts must be quarantined after exposure to a case, regardless of whether the case was symptomatic. TDH and CDC recommend a 14-day quarantine. Acceptable alternatives to a 14-day quarantine include: • after Day 10 (returning to regular activities on Day 11) without testing if the contact does not have symptoms. • after Day 7 (returning to regular activities on Day 8) if the contact does not have symptoms and if they test negative by a PCR or antigen (rapid) test collected after Day 5. Continue to self-monitor for symptoms and wear a face mask through Day 14. • If they go the route of getting a negative PCR or antigen (rapid) test, we will need proof of that test to allow them back before the 10 days are up. According to guidelines set forth by the TN Department of Health, COVID-19 testing refers to SARS-CoV-2 PCR. Negative antigen (rapid tests), and antibody tests are not approved for return to school. We have been instructed NOT to accept a Rapid negative COVID test for school return. Notify your healthcare provider that we do not accept Rapid COVID tests. Also, diagnoses of respiratory and viral conditions such as allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergies, upper respiratory tract infection (URI), pneumonia, pharyngitis without positive strep test, etc., DO NOT exclude the diagnosis of COVID-19 and DO NOT justify return to school.

Student Ambassador Selection Process – Applications Due 11/16/20: The Student Ambassadors Organization is SGCHS’s form of student government. Each grade has 5 different representatives that will be chosen, and these students will help be the voice of their respective grade. We help organize different events for the student body, participate in community service events, and serve as liaisons between the administration of the school and the student body. The process of selecting Student Ambassadors consists of three parts. First, any student interested must fill out an online application that is linked at the bottom of this announcement. Part of the application is listing teachers that you have had at SGCHS. The sponsors for Student Ambassadors (Mrs. Richerson and Coach Martin) will reach out to teachers for recommendations. The applications will be scored base on a rubric by a panel of teachers, and the applications will be anonymous during this scoring process. The recommendation scores will be compiled along with the application scores, and the top 8 students from each grade will move on to the 3rd stage. During this part, a panel of teachers will conduct interviews of each student via a Teams Call. The interviews will be held on a Friday, and the top 8 students will sign up for an interview time. After all three parts are complete, the students with the top 5 scores will be selected as the 2020-2021 Student Ambassadors. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Richerson or Coach Martin.
