Just a reminder that basketball season passes do not include post season games. If you are planning to attend any of the tournament games, you will need to purchase a ticket.
Schools will prepare student lunches tomorrow for pick-up from 11:00am-noon only. Parents are not required to reserve a meal and may pick up anytime during the designated hour. Meal pick-up in Medina will be at SGCHS. Pick up will be at the back of the school at the cafeteria door. The lunch will consist of pizza, tater tots, corn, fruit, and a cookie.
Peer Tutoring Program
SGCHS is now offering tutoring sessions for SGCHS students. If you would like to sign up for a session, please complete the link below. Students who previously signed up stating they were interested in attending will need to sign up again specifying which session they would like to attend. Students must sign up at least 24 hours prior to the tutoring session. The tutoring will be led by SGCHS students and will be in the Media Center. If you preregistered for the Jane Ross ACT workshop that is going to be held on Saturday, March 6th, please pay your $60.00 to a counselor by next Wednesday, February 24th.

GCSSD Statement Regarding Junior/Senior Prom For 2021
As a district, we take a great deal of pride in being able to provide extracurricular activities and opportunities that our students can look back upon with fond memories of their high school years. Throughout this Covid pandemic, many difficult decisions have been made with regards to cancelling events or significantly changing the manner in which they are conducted. We do not take these decisions lightly and certainly realize the impact they have on our students. Our goal has always been to make the decisions with the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff as the primary factors in the decision making process. Presently, the Governor’s Executive Order #70 is still in effect which places limitations on social gatherings in Tennessee. Considering these things and the amount of time that it takes to coordinate and plan, the high schools in the Gibson County Special School District will not be sponsoring a Junior/Senior Prom this spring. This was not an easy decision or one that we take lightly but one that we feel is necessary at this time. Hopefully, we will be able to return to some sense of normalcy soon and be able to provide the opportunity to continue the traditions that our students and staff look forward to each year. As always, thanks for your understanding and support during this unprecedented and challenging time.
Tonight's game against Westview has been cancelled.
GCSSD will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 2/11, due to the potential for inclement weather. Central Office staff will work from home. Friday, 2/12, will be a normal off campus learning day for staff and students. Staff will be contacted tomorrow, 2/11, for directions on Friday work location.
All afterschool activities/athletics have been cancelled today due to the possibility of inclement weather moving through our area this afternoon.

Current 9th graders: Monday, February 8 at 5:30pm
Current 10th graders: Monday, February 8 at 6:15pm
Current 11th graders: Tuesday, February 9 at 5:45pm (last name A-L) and 6:45pm (last name M-Z)
If you do not feel comfortable attending in person a link will be provided on SGCHS’ social media outlets on that day for you to watch the presentation. We will be going over course selection information and things you need to know for the 2021-2022 school year. Due to social distancing requirements, only 1 parent/guardian will be allowed to attend as a representative for the entire family. Students are not allowed to attend this year due to spacing requirements. Each parent/guardian in attendance must wear a mask throughout the presentation. There are red dots placed on the seats in the cafeteria and we ask that you space yourselves out by sitting on every other red dot. You can enter the school through the gym entrance. If you have any questions, please contact South Gibson County High School’s front office.
SGCHS has posted a survey on our social media outlets as well as Schoology for only current SGCHS students to determine if there is enough interest in attending an in-person ACT Workshop Training led by Dr. Ben Phillips with Jane Ross Tutoring.
The ACT Workshop will take place at SGCHS on Saturday, March 6 from 8am – 2pm. The cost will be $60 per student. Seating will be limited and all Covid guidelines/policies will apply. Students will need to bring a sack lunch with them.
Student Athletes will need to check with their coach to verify that they will not have any obligations on that day before committing to this event.
If students are interested in attending they will need to complete the survey by Thursday, February 4 at 3pm and someone will contact them through Schoology with additional information. Again, the survey can be found on our social media outlets or Schoology. If you have any questions please contact the main office.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, February 9 and Thursday, February 11 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. In trying to keep everyone safe, we will ask you to schedule either a phone or video conference.
Senior Parents:
There are 2 upcoming events for seniors. On Wednesday, January 27th, we will have someone in the media center from 8am – 2:30pm to assist you in completing the FAFSA. If you have not completed the FAFSA, it is very important that you come to school that day to complete it. You will find a list of required documents on our social media outlets. Also, all seniors are to report to the cafeteria at 10:45am on Wednesday, January 27th for a senior meeting.
