In consultation with state and local health organizations, GCSSD will be utilizing a framework to help determine the decisions we make at a local level for reopening school. This framework will assess virus spread within our community against the readiness and preparedness of our county and district. As health information in communities change and as the district readiness changes, the decision-making may also adjust accordingly. The district will provide broad parameters that may vary from school-to-school, depending on student enrollment and class sizes.
Currently, we have teams made up of district/school level administration and teachers to develop reopening procedures for each of the levels indicated below. Once we have draft procedures developed, we will share those with parents to get feedback before finalizing our reopening plans.
We will have four levels and will use current data/trends to move through those levels accordingly.
- Level 1: Virus spread is high and school readiness is low. Schools will be closed and all learning will occur via distance learning.
- Level 2: Virus spread is minimal to moderate and school readiness is moderate. Schools will be open but students will attend in person on alternating days to utilize social distancing. Distance learning will occur on the days not in the building.
- Level 3: Virus spread is low and school readiness is moderate. Schools will be open but will implement preventative practices. Families that do not feel comfortable attending may attend via distance learning.
- Level 4: Virus spread is low and school readiness is high. Schools will be open but will implement preventative practices.
Your feedback provided for each student within your household will help us develop our reopening plans. COVID-19 information changes daily. Please complete this survey as if we are beginnning school now, in Level 3. As with any GCSSD survey, the information you provide is kept confidential. All data is stored in a password protected electronic format.
Survey should be completed by June 19, 2020.
